2015 Boston Marathon Fundraising Kick Off

This is a very exciting time. The holidays are just around the corner and before we know it 2015 will be here. I know many of you (including myself) have goals already planned out for the year. What will the next race be? Where will I plan on that next PR? Do I dare take on the marathon distance? What do I have planned? Well I have two large fundraisers kicking off. The first is my 2015 Boston Marathon run, and the second is my AIDS Life Cycle virtual ride which is scheduled for summer 2015. Let’s talk Boston.

Last year, I was given the great opportunity of accepting the final spot on the Boston Bruins Foundation marathon team. The set fundraising goal for the year was $7,500.00. I joined the team on January 31st…I met my goal in 60 days thanks to all of you. In fact, we surpassed that goal raising just shy of $10,000 dollars!!!! I thank the Unicorns every day for each and every one of you. YOU made that race possible. When I ran down Boylston with Katie & Adam in hand and in tears…the memory of just that moment sticks with me and will never go away. YOU made a dream come true for me, and you helped a lot of New England children with some much needed programs. So, thank you.

So what is next for 2015? Well, I do have a place at the Boston Marathon party. This year, I will not be returning with the Bruins. I LOVE the Bruins Foundation and they have been nothing but amazing to me and to the New England children and I thank them. In fact, I would love to return to their team in 2016. 2015 is personal. for 2015 I have decided to run alongside my good friend Adam (who you can see on my left in that really epic photo above) and join Team BIDMC! BIDMC Is the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Now why BIDMC? Adam’s father (who we loving call Papa Chambo) has been receiving cancer treatment from the awesome team at BIDMC for the past couple years. As a good friend, Adam shared his father’s progress with our group of friends and we stood by his side and supported him through the very difficult time. Thankfully, Papa Chambo is in good health doing very well today. Of course, every day is a new day but we are happy to have his smiling face around when we go racing. I am specifically raising money for the BIDMC Cancer Fund. I want to ensure people receive the high-quality care that they deserve…and we all know (those that have been following me for a while) that Cancer is something very near and dear to my heart.

So this is where you wonderful people come in. Every donation you make will go towards helping to save someone’s life. To ensure someone may be able to see another holiday. That someone can hold their grand child one more time. Providing a means for families to come together without the burden of a financial rain cloud. Do something good to ensure others can smile. Isn’t that what life is all about anyway? My goal is $5,000 dollars. If I can raise almost $8,000 is 60 days I am sure we can raise $5000 is less time than that. Especially with the great incentives I am planning.

Do something good this holiday season. This doesn’t just let me run the Boston Marathon…this helps save lives. And at the end of the day…isn’t that what it’s all about? Using your talents, gifts, and blessings to be a blessing to someone else? Thank you in advance for all of your help and love.
