Friday’s are always special. The signal the end of the work week. They ring in the weekend. And some of you guys may of even gotten paid! Me? I got a great email today that I am really excited about. I have been invited by my awesome pals over at Runner’s World to participate in the Runner’s World Half Marathon and Festival this year! The dates for this awesome showdown are October 16-18. I love when I get surprises like this! Myself along with 19 other amazing bloggers will get the chance to hang out at Runner’s World, eat some awesome food and snacks (big selling point here), and of course participate in the weekend’s racing events. I haven’t been to Bethlehem, PA before. Hell, I haven’t been to Pennsylvania before, so this will be quite the adventure.Sharpie is headed to the Runners World Half Marathon & Festival...and he is STOKED! Click To Tweet
Many of the big fun details are being fleshed out, and some I can’t tell you about JUST yet…but soon I promise. But if you’re interested in perhaps participating in the weekend’s fun events here is what you can look forward to. One thing I know for sure is my fav Dani will be there too, so CLEARLY it’s gonna be EPIC and a #WeRunSocial takeover!
The Altra 3.8 Mile Trail Run
This is a fun and welcomed addition to the race weekend. The awesome folks at Altra are hosting a 3.8 mile trail run on Friday October 16 through South Mountai Park. This run isn’t slated to be very technical or challenging so if you’re new to trail running or want to see what it’s all about…this is probably going to be just your speed. And of course I’ll be there.
The 5k & 10K
These races go down on Saturday. Both of these races offer great tours of Bethlehem and the cities rich vibrant history. I always say the best way to see a new city is to run through it.
The Half Marathon
I mean honestly, if I am going to fly across the country I am going to run as many miles as possible. Plus, with all of the miles I’ll run it will actually total 26.2 miles over the weekend. I see what Runner’s World did there. the 13.1-mile course will wind through Bethlehem’s historic neighborhoods (running past some of the town’s original 1741 settlement), Moravian College, and the former Bethlehem Steel Complex, where the backbone of the nation was literally forged. Sounds fancy!
Discounts and Things
And of course, if you want to come and join us for ALL the fun and selfies (and hopefully several Barties…that’s a selfie with my BFF Bart Yasso), we have you covered. Register and use discount code ‘blogsharpendurance‘ to save some money on any of the distances. I again want to thank Runner’s World for inviting to me to the party! Now the only question is, will you be there?
