I have had an internal conflict going on for quite some time. At least 18 months. Many of my friends know, but many of you don’t. I was ready to start the process of closing the doors on the Sharp Endurance experience. There were points where frankly I just wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I felt like being “me” was becoming more actual work instead of a joy. I felt my content wasn’t unique or serving the purpose I felt it should. I just felt stale. But, I persisted and kept writing. I kept posting on my social channels. The running things, the day drinking things, the things that I found intriguing. And many of you stuck around through it all. Thanks 🙂Sharpie is looking to branch out and have a fresh voice Click To Tweet
As bloggers/social media “personalities” (use whatever word you want…call me whatever you want just don’t call me collect) I think we all struggle with our voices. It takes a lot of time and energy and passion to maintain blogs and social media presence. It isn’t easy. It. Is. WORK. My blog is 5 years old. The climate is different and has shifted so drastically since then. So we as creatives need to stay on top of our game to stay relevant.
So, I’ve been thinking about my brand as a whole. Not just “Sharpie the runner” but Sharpie the creative, the media guru. How can I utilize my talents and bring a fantastic experience to my brand and to the running/endurance sports community? I think I figured it out.
Over the summer I have a handful of projects I am happy to be apart of. I can’t quite tell you what these projects are but I know that you going to love them. I can tell you that I get to dig into my bag and have creative control over an entire campaign for a race. I am also working on developing a podcast that literally all of you in the community can be apart of. I have wanted to do a podcast FOREVER. I have had a few ideas but nothing that really jumped out to me. But finally, I have a good one. The idea came to me, I shopped it to my peers and we are going to flush that out. I want that launched by September so keep your eyes and ears open.
Don’t think I am abandoning my blog. I am not, I love this thing. But I want to bring different types of engaging content to my audience. I want you to see the running community through different lenses. I am bursting with creativity and I want to share it with all of you. So hold on to your seats…some cool stuff is coming down the pipe.
Is there anything you’d like to see come out of this shop?
